My passion of researching a wide variety of online travel resources, to discover unique travel experiences, has generated a wealth of insights that l have shared with friends and family over the years. Sometimes the smallest of “travel tips” have resulted in the most appreciative of travellers..!!
This is not to say l want to schedule every minute of a vacation, but more like l want to have a good understanding of all available highlights and from there l can work around the time schedule and weather for picking the best day for sights. (You also would not want to miss a significant sight, like say, the Trevi Fountain - if you were walking on the adjacent street.!) Another good reason, is that many museums and sights are closed on certain days, and you need to pre-plan to keep from disappointment). My planning searches out some travel experiences that are little outside our comfort zone - but, it has given us amazing chances to meet locals (try to speak a VERY little of their language) and make the most of out travel time (and limited dollars). Look at the best travel experiences section, in each of the destinations to read about some of our serendipity while travelling. It also give you a great appreciation of how other people live and having YOU being in the minority, not speaking the language, is a great eye-opener to be patient and helpful with others when you come back to your own comfortable home country.
So, if you are an all-inclusive, sit on a beach kind of traveller (that’s just great - everyone loves down time.!) - it just that this site may not be as helpful... Some of the best experiences, have come from meeting a guy on a scooter, in a piazza, to drop off a key for a local private apartment rental -that we have found are the most rewarding.
(And of course, thanks to Geraldine, who inspires all the great things in my life.)

A special call-out to Jake and his wife Debora, who own Graphik lnk Tattoo in Toronto’s west end.
I have wanted a “travel related” tattoo for some time, and Jake did an amazing job...
I originally was thinking of a native art piece, maybe based on some of my favourite west coast Tlingit or Haida art, (as l have loved the simplicity of it), or even the Australian or New Zealand Maori indigenous art.
But becoming acutely aware of the appropriation of First Nations art and culture - l did not want to be part of that... however, l liked the connection with the Canadian native peoples and their numerous creation stories of the North American continent that started as “Turtle Island”.
(My amazing personal experience, was snorkelling among wild Green Turtles at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.!!) So l drew up some roughs and Jake gave it life as an original design. Great job.!!
